This is not 1966

A truly obvious statement. However the English media would almost have you believing
otherwise.
World Cup 2010 is here. England qualified for the final stages in South Africa
and expected great things. Perhaps victory. Alas it wasn't to be.
They progressed to the last 16 by the skin of their teeth finishing 2nd in Group C.
This put them up against rivals Germany, to battle for a place in the quarter finals.
As we now know they lost to (were anihilated by) the Germans, sending Capello and co home to England.
We were all looking forward to the entertaining and excitement of the contest.
Everyone was looking forward, that is except for the English
media who will no doubt remind us of 1966 as many times as they can before we all fall asleep.
Inspired to resist this backwardness, this site will look at 1966 from a different angle
and hopefully explain this insane obsession.

England, as we know, and are 'occasionally' reminded have, in the past, won the World Cup.
They believe, and expect to do it again. Well, noone is holding their breath waiting. Or, perhaps they will do
it next time round. Despite not even qualifying for Euro 2008, England still expects. Can they do it? Let's see.

What the 'experts' have to say.
Jimmy Hill, Alan Hansen, Terry Venables and the like. Some of them know what they're talking about.
Others think they know it all, but show themselves up as prize gibbons.
